ZABOU // The Virgin Mary of street artists

For today's street art pill I would like to introduce a female artist. Girls are very active on the street art scene. Women are also the subject of many street portaits. However, I usually find that women portraited by women have more charachter than women painted by men, which are more sensual but less engaging.

My top favourite is Italian artist Alice Pasquini. I will talk about her in coming days. Today i wanted to show The work of a new addition to the London scene: French artist Zabou. Her work is humorous and irreverent. This can be seen in Brick Lane and represents a sort of the Virgin Mary, protector of all the street artists (or so I like to imagine). The Virgin, highlighted by a golden aureola, is preying while holding a can of ... (s)pray ... which is the name of this work.
