David WALKER // Colour-splash women
David Walker produces some of the most easily enjoyable art on the streets. He is famous for female portraits in an explosion of colours. He is now a mainstream artist exhibiting in galleries, but according to some interviews he released, what he enjoys the most is painting on the streets with the human interaction that his bring. His work is the perfect example of "women painted by men". His girls are astonishingly beautiful and seductive, although maybe too idyllic ... ultimately not all women are top models right?. Walker's technique though its utterly impressive. As far as I could see on some time-lapse videos on Youtube, he paints freehand only using spray cans. He first puts a layer with the splash of colours and then paints over other layers with the human figure. Walker's art is relative new as apparently he started painting only in late '2000s. However, he quickly became very popular thanks to his eye-catching style which is now inspiring other street artists. Recently I saw similar, although smaller, colour-explosive portraits in Shoreditch. While I try to undertand who is behind, the sure thing is that Walker's art gets very easily to the general public and it is highly enjoyable
