King Rama IX of Thailand passed away in October 2016 after having reigned for more than 70 years. He managed critical moments in his reign, in particular the relationship with the military forces. In Bangkok, there are large photos of him everywhere and many Thais wear black stripes in mourning for his death. The entire city is commemorating him. The taxi drivers we met spoke of him as a father. He has been honoured also by street artists. We found this beautiful work in a small alley though I don't know the name of the artist
