ALO // African tribal style on mural
There are two recurring charachters that are currently being posted on the streets of Shoreditch these days. Both are Made by Italian artists. The first one - that you can see in the pic - is ALO. I spotted an increasing number of these paintings recently. They are not immediately visible because generally their colour palette is consistent with the surrounding walls and urban environment. These pixelate portraits have generally a strong sad feeling. In this sense, they are called urban expressionism. But this is not everything. Long necks and bold dark lines seems to recall somehow African tribal styles. In addition, some words are embedded in the figure (zoom on the head). I love these pieces although not entirely sure why and I'm still trying to decrypt better these portraits. Seems they have many layers or interpretation
