After 3 tought days, we finally came back to Cartagena where we had the chance to relax for the last part of our Colombian adventure.

APRIL 2011 - First part of a trip to Argentina and Chile. We arrived in Buenos Aires and stayed there for a couple of days. BA has a strong European flavour with several monuments to see. Then we moved into the North West province of Salta, at the foothills of the Andes where we stayed for 4 days enjoying the activities and the sights of the region. Salta is a lovely city with a great nightlife scene. Over the 4 days we first did a rafting trip on the Rio Juramento. We then rented a car and headed north to the Quebrada de Humahuaca and the Gran Salinas before crossing into Chile.

APRIL 2011 - We crossed to Chile from Argentina through the Paso de Jama, on the Ruta 52 at over 4,000mt of altitude. In Chile we stopped for a few days in San Pedro which we used as a base for various excursions in the nearby Atacama desert and in the mountains. On the first day we went to the Atacama salt lake, a natural park home of various types of flamingos. Then up to the two lakes Miskanti and Miñiques. In the evening we took a popular excursion to the death valley. On the second day, early wake-up at 4.00am to see the Tatio gaysers and the nearby national park before the sunrise. At 4,500mt, with a temperature which went from -8C to +20C in less then a hour when the sun arrived. After having enjoyed one relaxind day in town we took the flight from Calama to Santiago, last place of our tour. Despite everybody suggested not to spend too much time, we pretty enjoyed the city, maybe thanks to the nice volks of our hostel which gave some good tips and let us finish our holiday with a wonderful asado.
Caribbean Island Hopping (2014)
By: Guglielmo Biason & Valentina Vitali
MAY 2014 - Can you visit the Caribbeans "on the road"? Yes you can, we choose some of the Widnward islands to do this. Arriving in St George, Grenada, we made all the way up to Kingstown, in St Vincent, hopping from island to island with local boats.
You don't need much preparation, just be ready to ask a lot locally when the ferries / cargo boats are departing and be there on time with a lot of patience. On the islands, especially the biggest island, the transportation system is pretty integrated: catch one of those crazy minibus and go on your feet to complement the are where vans are less frequent.
